When Birthline of San Diego approached us to help with their annual Love Another Mother event, we knew this was an opportunity to create something truly special. This Mother’s Day celebration honors the incredible mothers in its community—many of whom have overcome financial and medical hardships while striving to provide for their families. This case study highlights how we helped Birthline navigate its first-ever sponsorship initiative, transforming their annual event into a more impactful celebration while building lasting partnerships with local businesses.

The Service

For this comprehensive business-to-nonprofit sponsorship project, Nadi Marketing provided complete sponsorship management from conception to post-event follow-up. As a retainer-based client, Birthline partnered with us for their first venture into corporate sponsorships, and we built its entire sponsorship program from the ground up. Our full-service approach encompassed three key phases:

Phase 1: Foundation Building We established the complete sponsorship infrastructure, creating professional materials, strategic frameworks, and communication systems that positioned Birthline as an attractive partner for local businesses.

Phase 2: Outreach & Relationship Management We managed all sponsor communications from initial pitch to post-event, handling 56 business outreach efforts, conducting sponsor calls, and securing partnerships that aligned with both organizations’ values.

Phase 3: Event Coordination & Fulfillment We coordinated all sponsorship logistics with team members and volunteers, ensured seamless execution of sponsor benefits during the event, and maintained ongoing communication to strengthen relationships for future collaborations.

This end-to-end sponsorship management allowed Birthline’s team to focus on their core mission while we handled the complex logistics of building and managing its first corporate partnership event.

Goals

1. Secure sponsorship for the event’s most costly expense – food for 80-100 mothers to create a wonderful celebration for this client-facing Mother’s Day event

2. Build lasting partnerships by introducing local businesses to Birthline’s mission and ongoing work in the community

3. Create a sustainable, replicable sponsorship process for the annual Love Another Mother event that could be used year after year without starting from scratch

Strategy

Our strategy for the Love Another Mother event focused on creating authentic partnerships while ensuring maximum impact for both the mothers being celebrated and the sponsoring businesses:

1. Strategic Sponsorship Development: We created a comprehensive sponsorship packet that clearly communicated Birthline’s mission and the event’s purpose, making it easy for businesses to understand the impact of their support.

2. Targeted Outreach: We identified and reached out to 56 businesses that aligned with Birthline’s values and would benefit from community visibility and engagement.

3. Relationship-Focused Approach: Rather than transactional sponsorship requests, we emphasized the opportunity for businesses to make a meaningful difference in mothers’ lives while gaining authentic community recognition.

4. Comprehensive Benefit Delivery: We ensured every sponsor received full value from their partnership through website features, social media recognition, onsite visibility, and ongoing communications.

5. Long-term Partnership Building: Our approach focused on creating lasting relationships that would extend beyond this single event to future collaborations.

Results

The Love Another Mother event sponsorship campaign exceeded expectations, delivering significant value for both the nonprofit and the community:

  • 56 businesses contacted for potential sponsorship
  • 10 sponsorships successfully secured
  • $2,991.66 in in-kind donations generated
  • Several additional sponsors moved to support Birthline’s upcoming gala event ($500+ value)

Event Impact:

  • 80-100 mothers in attendance for a celebration breakfast and lunch
  • 80+ spa bags distributed (valued at $85 each, including $50 gift cards)
  • 16 centerpieces and 14 prize baskets raffled
  • 8 program graduates honored with bouquets and wellness packs
  • Custom printed photos provided for all mothers on-site
